Emotions and Facts

Posted on December 17, 2016 at 10:25 AM

To tell someone in a discussion to leave away emotions when talk about facts is absurd and scientifically nonsense. First, it is impossible to discuss without emotions. Second, it is not a bad thing to have emotions. They have many functions. Only one of them: they help us remembering things better. Whoever tells someone else to "stop being emotional" basically surpresses and denies his own emotions. They then seek another hole to come out. One example: If someone steps on your foot with high heels, it is a good thing to let the anger, frustration and hurt out - like by yelling and screaming. If you pretend nothing happened, the emotions will find another way. Example: you then write an "intellectual" book about why high heels should be forbidden.
