Is the internet brainwashing people?

Something that struck my mind for quite a while is that it seems to be close to being impossible to lead a reasonable discussion with people anymore. If you make a point, they send you links of which they probably only read the headline. Links to "prove" their point. Links that say what they want them to say. When you argue logically against that, they send you another of those links. That is like being in a sect - you stop thinking for yourself and have others think for you. Likewise with social media, Google and what else there is out there. They remember what your preferences are and show you articles that are in line with these. The point is that each one of us gets a set worldview designed for his or her prejudices and existing mindets. We all buy that and think the whole world is like this. We don't even think about it anymore. How about the world out there is totally different from what we thought it to be? How about people are totally different? If you present people a pre-chosen worldview, you influence politics, the military, economy and religion. You control the world. This is not conspiracy theory, this is reality. If you don't believe it, go to a computer of someone who do not know and look what he or she gets presented. It will most likely be totally different from your screen. Think about it. Act.
